What is not to be done when harming homeless animals and helping will be really effective? Volunteering can vary from minimal one-time actions to foster care. Everyone can find the best option for themselves.

NOT feeding

It seems like a bowl of food is the easiest way to help a homeless animal. You probably also buy sausages for a puppy that’s picked up on the street … But the baiting is the illusion of helping. It only makes things worse. First, there are more homeless animals: one cat gives birth to 15 kittens every year. Secondly, the fed animals (such as dogs) often gather in packs. And third, the wrong food can hurt the animals, causing illness and even death.
There are more effective ways to help.

Find a new home

The first thing to do is to check if the dog or cat is looking for its owners. You should look for the owner’s phone number on the collar. If there is no number, you can contact social networking groups. An animal that is not looked for / thrown away can be taken home and made part of the family – this is probably the best thing for a dog or kitten that is left alone. Of course, not everyone has such an opportunity (small apartment, allergies, many other obstacles), but you can try to find a shelter for the animal: publish a photo in social networks, tell your friends or just bring to the shelter.

Take an animal to a temporary shelter

Not all animals who find themselves in a shelter can live there. Puppies, kittens, and dogs after surgeries are all better off if they can temporarily live in a warm and comfortable home. For this purpose, there are animal shelters – families who agree to temporarily take in an animal and provide care for it. At the same time, volunteers are actively looking for new owners for her.

Become a foster or guardian

If you can fully or partially care for an animal but cannot take her home with you, become her foster/guardian. Monthly contributions will provide your ward with food, regular vaccinations and all necessary treatments. You will be able to visit him, take him for walks, and find him a permanent family.
